101 ways to ruin a life is a 2021 Alslandic Comedy-drama film directed and written by Heli Vitsut. It is based off the 2008 novel of the same name by Rolf Hannawald. The film follows high-school student Yosi Hoelder after she is publicly blackmailed and forced to do embarrassing acts to prevent personal information being leaked to her school. The film stars Talvi Mannik, Anne Teder and Roefke Oosterhof.
The film is set to premier in Alsland on October 20 2021. The film is also a contestant in the Montecara Film Festival. Much of the filming of Liina took place at a disused high-school in Zittau.
Plot
Yosi Hoelder is an average high-school student in the suburbs Alsland. Her group of friends at school include Til Weinmann, Sebastian Masur and Rolf Dehne.
Whilst doing homework, Yosi receives a text message threatening to expose private information about Yosi. Initially disregarding it she is told by Rolf that the sender has posted the text online and sent similar text messages to some of the other students in her grade and has posted a list of which students. The next day an assembly is called by the principal of the school about the messages and threatens to bring the matter to the police if nobody admits to sending the messages. During the assembly a boy on the list in Yosi's class punches a gay student for seemingly no reason.
