During the rise of the Sotiras Dynasty, The Basileus Milos III wanted to expand the borders of Sotiras and looked for what land would be easy to acquire. Milos settled on sparsely settled islands of the Triaas Isles, and sent a fleet to take control over the islands with little resistance. Due to more pressing matters in the 2nd Union of Voidkree and the general lack of care for the offshore islands, it went uncontested for 22 years. During those 22 years, a small settlement of Celestians moved to the islands, increasing the population from 1,050 to 3,500.
Background
The Triaas Isles had long been neglected by the government of the 2nd Union of Voidkree. Most of the Triaas Isles People had wanted independence from the Union so they could take care of themselves. For a brief period of time between 11 January - 14 March 666AR, the Triaas Republic was declared, and during that brief period of time, they established a constitution and a navy from captured Union ships. It was also during this period that newly appointed Triaasian Admiral Valentin Ilves was deployed to patrol the sea from raiding Incursions of Shibettan Pirates. It was when the Sotiraian Black Whale Fleet arrived at the capital of Triaas, Varnas, on 14th of March during which the Triaas Republic surrendered its fleet after only a small skirmish outside the port.
