The House of Hazaraspid, more formally the House of Hazarasp, was the ruling dynasty of the Hazarasp Kingdom, later known as the Shahdom of Iotopha, from 1405 until their overthrow in 1924 during the Iotophan revolution.

The Shahdom of Iotopha was unified in the early 15th century by Mêrxas I, who named the dynasty Hazaraspid after his father Ardashir Hazarasp. The dynasty's name is of Teispid origin, meaning "thousand horses". The dynasty originated from the island of X, located on the west coast of what is now Iotopha, uniting petty Kardish kingdoms against the retreating Bayarid Empire. The dynasty was overthrown in the 1924 revolution, where nearly all dynasts were killed.

The head of the House of Hazaraspid is in dispute, though Mêrxas, Shahzadeh of Iotopha is widely considered the chief pretender to the abolished Iotophan throne by a majority of exiled Iotophans nobles, and royal historians. Prince Payedar Hazaraspid-Xozan is also a pretender, as the heir to the line of Khusraw V, last Shah of Iotopha.

Line of succession to the Mêrxas claim

Under Hazarasp dynastic succession, the Shah must adhere to the Mazdayasna faith to be eligible. Females may inherit the throne, though since the 16th century have been deemed ineligible if engaged in the Xwedodah tradition, which according to dynastic law is any marriage between the Shah (or Shahzadeh) and a female dynast that was cousin or closer relative.

Jorin, Shahzadeh of Iotopha, was the grandson of Shah Mêrxas VII through the Shah's second eldest son, Prince Jorin Hazaraspid. In his lifetime, Jorin was recognized as Shahzadeh (crown prince) and heir to the abolished throne ahead of the line of Khusraw V due the Xwedodah marriage between Princess Delal Hazaraspid and Ardashir, Shahzadeh of Iotopha, the former whose line is referred to as Hazaraspid-Xozan.

The Legitimist line descends from Jorin, Shahzadeh of Iotopha, the grandson of Shah Mêrxas VII through his second son Prince Jorin Hazaraspid. Mêrxas, Shahzadeh of Iotopha is the president of the Crown Council of Iotopha.

Line of succession to the Khusraw claim

Khusraw V was the last Shah of Iotopha, overthrown in the 1924 revolution, leaving no legitimate male heirs of his own. One child survived, Delal, Shahdokht of Iotopha, who was married to Ardashir, Shahzadeh of Iotopha as his primary Xwedodah wife in 1920. Due her Xwedodah marriage, Legitimists supporting the Mêrxas claim assert that she and any children lost all succession rights according to dynastic law. However, Delal asserted her claim to the newly abolished throne after escaping to COUNTRY during the revolution. She had no children by Ardashir, Shahzadeh of Iotopha, but remarried during her exile to Payedar Xozan – a member of the royal guard.

By historians, Delal's line is referred to as Hazaraspid-Xozan. The current head of this cadet house is Prince Yazdegerd Hazaraspid-Xozan. His heir apparent is Prince Khusraw Hazaraspid-Xozan.
