Greenlan is a nation in northeastern America. It is bordered by Valen to the north, Silaq to the southwest, and Tormit to the south. It has a coast with the Kalaallit Sea to the west, the Arctic Ocean to the northeast, and the Greenlan Sea to the southeast.
Greenlan is ranked high for civil liberties and moderately high HRC-FS human rights, having protections for most HRC-FS human rights. However, there is extreme economic corruption in the government leading to a moderate ranking in political freedom. Corruption in the government usually does not affect the validity of elections directly, but can lead to severe imbalances in funding. Additionally, campaigners have high influence over politicians through financial means.
Greenlan has participated extensively in reincarnation technologies and submarine infrastructure. Reincarnation labs, zoos, and farms are located all around Lake Tunumiisut and assisted in the reincarnation and release of freshwater sturgeon fish. While Greenlan does not have any submarine cities, there are many submarine houses and apartment complexes with above-ground entry points. Greenlan mines and refines several metals and is the key provider of refined metals for Kalaallit.
Etymology
Greenlan was the first name for the entire island, which has since separated into two after the Greenlan Ice Sheet melted. It was likely named to entice settlers to the area, despite the environment being cold and remote. The name was adopted for the country to honor the heritage of the region.
