The Nermesten national football team (Ignesian: Nermestenacio Equipo Futbalo) represents Nermesten in men’s international football. Colloquially known as Las Marudulos (The Marauders), the team is administered by the Igneziasocio de Futbalo, as well as the other five Ignesian national teams.
It has been part of 12 of 14 possible Nations’ Cups, and have won 3 of them. It is the second-most successful team in the Copano Vimiceyra, and the most successful team in the ISC Intercontinentals, winning them both 7 times respectively. At home, they play in various stadiums, and train at the [WIP].
The national team is the only ever side to win a Nations’ Cup without qualifying for any of the prior cups back in 1960. They also won an astounding 6 straight Copano Vimiceyras during the 1970s, also winning the 1972 Nations’ Cup, but would lose the 1976 edition to a 4-4 comeback from Liujava, 3-4 in penalties. In 1992, the Incident at the Ilvanestros, a brawl between the Nermesten and Kvalnestros teams, both storied and fierce rivals both on and off the pitch, led to many national team players to withdraw, and would influence the reinstatement of the Ignesian national team. They would lose back-to-back to the Ignesian "Volleyballers" side, that included many former Nermesten players, in both 2004 and 2008 Nations' Cups. In 2020, Nermesten would be crowned Nations’ Cup champions after a 3-1 win against Hysante.
