The Blostlandic Reform War, also known as the Blostlandic Reaction, and the Northern Amendist War, was a series of conflicts from 1514 until 1529 fought between the Kingdom of Blostland, Catholic Rebels, and Peasants. It is remembered as part of the Amendist Reaction with its events going on to the partly inspire subsequent reactions during the Amendist Wars
The war would allow King Gjöl to establish the Independent Church of Blostland and destroy most Catholic power in the country.
Background
Janson Egnell better known as Janson the Lame was born July 18th 1495, crippled from birth Janson would pursue a life in the ministry of the church. Becoming a Priest in 1508 Janson would be widely known for his radical service inspired by the teachings of Johanne Stearn from Estmere.
When Johanne died in 1513 Janson would leave the church preemptively, going on a public protest against the church and its corruption blaming the death of Johanne on the pope and the majority of Blostland’s issues on the worldly influences of the Church. Janson would be arrested shortly after his protest began, being sentenced to die for heresy; it was thought his movement was to die with him.
In early 1514 King Gjöl would pardon Janson taking him in and personally guarding him from Church authorities. Gjöl had previously been in conflict with the Church over his refusal to give the pope gifts and accept the pope's authority, while catholic nobles attempted to mend the situation Gjöl had no intention of fixing anything and instead used the chaos to his advantage.
Staging a fight between Church leaders, Catholic nobles, and his personal guard Gjöl would frame the Catholic nobility in Blostland for trying to overthrow him. Playing right into Janson’s rhetoric Gjöl would arrest and execute hundreds of church leaders and catholic nobilities, galvanizing the Amendist cause while also enraging Catholics across the country.
Skooglän Rebellion
The remaining catholic nobles and church leaders would rally to Castle Skoog in Skooglän a strong Catholic territory even till this day.
