West Arcadia, officially the Arcadian Free State (AFS) is a country in northeastern Laurentia and borders Joseon and Libervalley to the west and East Arcadia to the east, along the Arcadian Demilitarized Zone. The country's northern and southern borders are defined by coastline, from the Northern Ocean in the north to the Great Ocean in the south. West Arcadia claims to be the sole legitimate government of the Arcadian peninsula and adjacent islnads and the only successor to the Second Arcadian Empire, which collapsed in 1945. It has a population of 125.9 million, of which the majority live in the south of the country. The capital of Moryevpold is located in the west, but the largest city is the eastern city of Korolimni. Other major cities include Aalesos, Phraxos, Rhaedestus, Ad Novas, and Ateio.

What is now the Arcadian Peninsula was inhabited as early as the Paleolithic period. The first protostates in the region were noted in the early 7th century BC. Following the unification of the Peninsular Kingdoms into a single empire, Arcadia was ruled by the Samar dynasty (1174-1291), the Burkel dynasty (1291-1533), and the Albertos dynasty (1533-1673). The First Empire collapsed due to famine, and scattered into several disparate states, the largest of which was the Arcadian Free State, a prototypical democratic republic. The Free State would embark on several wars of conquest, but would lose to what would eventually become the Second Arcadian Empire in 1800. After the Second Great War, the Second Empire would also begin to fall apart due to the stresses of war. In the west, a democratic insurgency predominated while the eastern industrial areas fell under a communist regime. After the civil war, negotiations on reunification failed. Since then, the democratic West Arcadian government, renaming itself the Free State of Arcadia, has competed against the communist East, which named itself the People's Republic of Arcadia.

Despite the damage of the civil war, which saw extensive support and intervention from outside powers to affect the outcome, the rebuilding of Arcadia began. A new democratic government was implemented in 1953 and the devastated economy began to soar, with record-breaking growth in GDP, GDP per capita, and average income for many Arcadians. Bolstered by a burgeoning manufacturing sector, rich natural resources, and lucrative trade deals, the nation developed rapidly and has integrated itself into the world economy with an export-oriented industrial economy. West Arcadia is large exporter of electronics, raw materials, and luxury goods and has one of the largest foreign exchange reserves in the world. It is widely considered an advanced democratic free market economy.

West Arcadia is a global power and a developed economy, with its economy ranked as one of the largest in the world by nominal GDP and with a rising GDP per capita. In recent years, demographic slowdowns have resulted in slowing GDP growth. West Arcadia's citizens enjoy one of the densest and highest quality high-speed railway networks and an extremely urbanized population. Its armed forces are ranked as one of the world's strongest militaries with universal conscription periods forming one of the largest military reserves on the planet. In the 21st century, West Arcadian cultural exports have become more and more popular, particular in music (A-pop), television shows, and cinema, a phenomenon referred to as the Arcadian Invasion. It is a member of the Pangaean Union.
