The Social Democratic Party, or the SDP, is a center-left social-democratic political party in Caspiaa. The party is officially committed to social-democratic ideals, seeking a strong welfare state, funded through taxes and duties. Since the 1980s, the party has included more of the principles of a social market economy in its policy, allowing for privatisation of state-owned assets and services and reducing income tax progressivity, following the wave of economic liberalisation during the 1980s. The party has frequently been described as increasingly neoliberal since the 1980s, both by political scientists and opponents on the political left.

The SDP's government was established following the 1862 election, with Trond Veen becoming the party's first Prime Minister. Since the Samak scandal which began in 1942, and saw three SDP prime ministers in the span of a single term, the trend of elections has largely resulted in shifting term governments, with the SDP and the Conservatives exchanging power. The current SDP government is helmed by Prime Minister Tullia Grönberg.
