The May 1978 Greuningian state election took place in the Besmenian state of Greuningia on May 7, 1978.

Background

After the 1975 Greuningian state election, the BVP-BRP coalition that had existed since 1971 was continued with Günther Hauknecht (BVP) as governor, and Alois Huthmacher (BRP) as deputy governor.

On 7 January 1978, Hauknecht resigned as governor due to health problems. His successor was Ulrich Klinker, who previously served as Greuningian interior minister.

Electoral system

The election to the State Chamber of Greuningia is decided according to proportional representation. The electoral threshold is 5%. The legislative period is five years.
