The Zacapine Navy (Nahuatl: Акалли Семантихуиц Закапийоꙟ, Acalli Cemantihuitz Zacapiyotl, ACZ) is one of three independent military organizations of the United Zacapine Republics, overseen by the Naval Secretariat with an area of responsibility encompassing all expeditionary operations and military affairs beyond the borders of Zacapican proper including the defense of allied nations. In addition to a large oceangoing fleet of ships, the Zacapine Navy also commands major ground forces and an air fleet of its own, making it a fully independent military force in its own right. The maritime combat component of the Zacapine Navy is built around a number of heavily-armed nuclear-powered surface combatants supported by fixed-wing aircraft carriers, built to confront a peer or near-peer naval opponent in the open seas as part of the Zacapine grand strategy of oceanic supremacy. The Zacapine Naval Air Corps is one of the largest air forces in the world currently active, while the Naval Infantry Corps also known as the Xoxotilmani field an active 60,000-strong force of ground troops. Taken as a whole, the Zacapine Navy is more than twice the size of the Army and National Guard in terms of deployed manpower, tripling the combined expenditures of its sister services with its yearly budget.
Pelagic fleet
The fleet of oceangoing ships, known as the Pelagic fleet (Centlani Cemantihuitz) in the Zacapine Naval parlance, is structured into a distinct nuclear fleet of principal combatants and a non-nuclear fleet of auxiliary combatants and support vessels. The prime combatants of the nuclear fleet are the Nochcalima cruisers, a class of guided-missile cruiser designed to directly engage enemy surface ships, with particular emphasis in combating the carrier battle groups that are common among the most powerful navies in the world. These cruisers are intended to be grouped together with an Utzua reconnaissance cruiser and a Zancopinca carrier, with both classes complimenting and enhancing the combat capabilities of the Nochcalima-class lead ship. Rounding out the nuclear fleet is the Micomitl type air defense ship, which is meant to accompany her three sister classes of the nuclear fleet, acting as a platform for various surface-to-air missiles with which to intercept enemy aircraft and anti-ship missiles. Groupings of these nuclear-powered vessels are termed Strike Groups (Olochtli Calacahuiz), whose primary mission profile is to locate and destroy enemy surface battle groups.
The non-nuclear fleet, made up of Support Groups (Olochtli Palehuiz), is a mix of combat and non-combat vessels whose function is to facilitate the mission of the Strike Groups. The Mixtiani and Tlatlamani class vessels, a general-purpose guided-missile destroyer and a specialist anti-submarine frigate respectively, are the main combatants of the supporting fleet. These two types of ship can be grouped together to form versatile squadrons for anti-submarine patrols and convoy escort duties. Ichcapixqui-class logistics vessels are the largest ship type of the non-nuclear navy, carrying logistics aircraft and acting as a mobile airbase for in-mission resupply of naval squadrons at sea.
