Katarn-Pattern Heavy Blaster Rifle
Thrashian Imperial Army Equipment
The Katarn-pattern Heavy Blaster Rifle is the latest in Imperial technology created by the Thrashian Empire for it's fighting men and women of the Imperial Military[1]. Designed by the taciturn weapons developer and renown engineer, Kyle Katarn, the Katarn Rifle (as it is sometimes known) or K-1, is a vast improvement over the older E-11 BlasTech model blaster rifle. The K-1 is almost a call back to older times when the Imperial Army and the Clone Legions used the DC-15 Blaster Rifle. With better handling and an improved rate of fire the K-1 is capable of incredible carnage. It lacks the stun setting of the older E-11 as it is intended to be completely lethal. Talks of adding a stun setting to the Mark II of the design has been discussed at length by the Imperial High Command, but for now it remains entirely lethal.
Design Features
The K-1 is designed with three barrels that cycle in order to reduce heat and thus increase the rate of fire possible. It has an increased drum-shaped blaster cartridge that is three times the size and capacity of the older E-11 models. The power setting of the weapon can be adjusted, which inevitably changes the amount of shots that may be fired per cartridge. The cartridges themselves can be re-used either by plugging them into a specially designed field generator that all Army and Clone infantry companies have, or by an ersatz method of solar or heat exchange. The ersatz charge method reduces the capacity of the cartridge and is only recommended for dire situations. The ersatz charge method has been found to only result in a charge failure (see: explosion) about 15% of the time.
It's ability to link the user's helmet HUD to it's targeting sights also further enhances the lethality and usage of the weapon system. Test users commented that this was the best feature of the K-1, thus allowing for better urban assault capability.
