Emigar (pronounced /ɛmɪˈɡɑr/; from Khadenz meaning "eel port") is a town in the south of Cadenza. It is the capital of the earldom of Emigara and, with a population of over 25,000, is the seventh largest settlement in the country. Its relatively rapid growth in recent decades is a result of spillover from Cadenza and Mefra.
The town lies on the mouth of the River Berak and is built on its fertile floodplain, at the centre of the agricultural region of southwest Cadenza. Despite its small population, it possesses extensive harbour facilities and is Cadenza's chief freight port and the centre of the nation's grain trade. Agricultural companies, such as the IPEBA, have offices in the city. Its status as one of the major seaports in western Trellin has allowed it to continue to thrive as a manufacturing centre. It nevertheless has a reputation for urban problems on a greater scale than in the rest of the country, particularly homelessness and economic deprivation in addition to problems of pollution.
