The Atmoran Army (Iravian: Atmoraanse Landmacht) is the principal land warfare force of the Atmoran Confederation. As of 1991, the Atmoran Army comprises just over 818,580 trained regular (full-time) personnel and just over 352,610 trained reserve (part-time) personnel. It maintains regular forces units at bases across the Atmoran Empire, and is also responsible for the Army National Guard and Army Reserve, the largest components of the Primary Reserve.

The modern Atmoran Army traces back to 1660, when it was known as the Hasselt Army; the term "Atmoran Army" was adopted in 1813 after Atmoran Confederation. Although all members of the Atmoran Army are expected to swear (or affirm) allegiance to Katherine II as their commander-in-chief, the Bill of Rights of 1889 requires parliamentary consent for the Crown to maintain a peacetime standing army. Therefore, Parliament approves the Army by passing an Armed Forces Act at least once every five years. The Army is administered by the Department of National Defence and commanded by the Chief of the Imperial General Staff.

Mission

The Atmoran Army serves as the land-based branch of the Atmoran Armed Forces. Section 3062 of Title 10, Atmoran Code defines the purpose of the army as:

  • Preserving the peace and security and providing for the defense of the Empire, the Colonies and possessions and any areas occupied by the Atmoran Empire
  • Supporting the national policies
  • Implementing the national objectives
  • Overcoming any nations responsible for aggressive acts that imperil the peace and security of the Atmoran Empire
