The Independent Reader (French reformed: L'Lectreuse Indépendante) is a Gylian newspaper, founded in 1958. It is Gylias' main conservative liberal publication.
History
It was founded in 1958, shortly after the end of the Liberation War. In the ensuing decades, it established a profile as a leading conservative liberal voice, representing the non-Donatellist right of Gylian liberalism, and a readership largely drawing from Centre Group and National Bloc supporters.
The 1990s saw it adopt new technology such as digital printing, establish its website, and digitise its archives through BiblioNet.

Its political orientation is conservative liberal, closer to the Gylian conservatism than liberalism.
It publishes editions in English and French.
