The Yukino River Conurbation (KS: 雪乃川の大都市圏, Yukino-Kawa no Daitoshi-ken), colloquially known as Yukino KDK and sometimes, however unofficial, the Yukino Metropolis, is the most populous city in the entirety of Komashi. It is the fastest-growing city in the confederal kingdom, with over 19,155,202 people as of 2020, and a density of 6,100 km2 (2,400 sq mi). Although not the royal capital, it is Komashi's financial and economic capital city. Its gargantuar size occupies a huge swathe of Yukino's northeastern corridor, and geographically located around and on the mouth of the Yukino River. The metropolis is divided extensively into a total of 88 wards.
One of the oldest cities in Komashi, it was originally called Naganawa, a small fishing village at the very mouth of the Yukino River. It rose to its prominence in 1715 when the Duchy of Yukino moved its residence from Chōsuke to the thriving village, starting with the construction of the Yukino Castle in Shih-na.
