History
Awarding and eligibility
The Combat Cross First Class is awarded for gallantry, so long as the action does not justify the award of one of the next higher valor awards; such as a branch specific combat cross, the King's Cross, or the Ordo Lux. The conspicuous acts of gallantry displayed must have taken place while in action against an enemy of the nation, while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an opposing foreign force, or while serving with friendly foreign forces engaged in an armed conflict against an opposing armed force in which the Luminerra is not a belligerent party. Traditionally, the The Combat Cross First Class is awarded for acts of valor or heroism performed over a brief period, such as one or two days of a battle, whereas the Combat Cross Second Class is typically issued for a single act of bravery in the face of the enemy. Unlike the King's Cross, the Combat Cross First Class can only be awarded during a declared conflict or emergency.
Stating in 1973, Lumenic Air Force pilots and naval aviators of the Aviazione Navale, in addition to their combat systems officers flying fighter aircraft, are often considered eligible to receive the Combat Cross First Class upon becoming an ace; having five or more confirmed aerial kills. The justification for this policy put forth by the Lumenic Air Force stated that achieving five or more kills in combat "entails the pilot and, in multi-seat fighters, the combat system officer, to intentionally and successfully risking their life or lives multiple times under combat conditions and emerging victorious."
The Combat Cross First Class can be awarded more than once to the same recipient. If an individual receives more than one Armed Forces Distinguished Service Award then the ribbon would display a Rosetón device.
