The Crown Nationalist Party (Ossorian Gaelic: Páirtí Náisiúnach na Corónach), abbreviated as the CNP or the PNC, is a paternalistic conservative and civic nationalist political party in Ossoria. The Crown Nationalists are currently the largest party in the House of Commons and had 200,000 registered members as of 2015.
The CNP was founded on 21 December 1868 as a continuation of the Royalist faction following the Legislaturist War to contest the elections of the reconstituted House of Commons in 1869. With the seating of the new Commons on 3 Feburary 1870, the party was officially legalised. The party has dominated Ossorian political life for most of the 20th century, routinely sending the largest share of TDs to the Dáil, and has led the majority of governments since its foundation, typically in coalition with the Centrist Party.
History
Ideology
The Crown Nationalists first and foremost support and advocate for a strong executive, specifically that of the Ossorian Monarchy, and are reliable supporters of the ruling monarch. As a party of the centre-right, they have been described as paternalistic, progressive, or liberal conservatives, and have consistently demonstrated support for the maintaining the unity of the Ossorian realm.
