Stephanie Audrey Stevenson Pierce, the first wife of Bartholomew Pierce, was born on December 26, 1964 in Atlanta, Georgia to Louise Grace (née Griffith; born 1944) and Adam Morton Stevenson (born 1943). She was raised with a Catholic upbringing and attended South Atlanta High School graduating in 1983. She attended Miami Dade College in Miami, Florida and graduated with an associate degree in pre-law in 1986. She met Bartholomew on a blind date and married on August 21, 1987. She worked as a paralegal.

Pierce died at home on November 22, 1997 after suffering from pneumonia related to a cold. Secondary factors included multiple drug intoxication from acetaminophen and dextromethorphan. Pierce's death certificate lists her cause of death as natural but notes that her over-the-counter drugs played a part.

Alonso Diaz Pierce, born December 23, 1990, is the first child and son of Bartholomew Pierce and his first wife, Stephanie Pierce. He was born in Manhattan, New York City. Although his family's primary residence is in Miami-Dade County, Florida, they maintain residences in New York City and British Columbia and his parents decided to have him born in Manhattan.

He would later graduate from Princeton University with an MBA and become chief financial officer (CFO) of Ryder, a company based in Miami.
