The Socialist Party of Malgrave (also known as the Malgravean Socialist Party) was founded shortly after the foundation of the country in 1918. Historically it hasn't fared well in national elections, however, the party has enjoyed more recent success and has considerable influence in regions that used to fall under the banner of the Socialist Republic of Malgrave.
History
The Socialist Party was forged during an increased period of industrialization and urbanisation in the country, such efforts were also tainted with supply issues caused by the Imerian blockade and hardship amongst the population led to members of the trade union coalescing around a single political entity based on ideological materials supplied from Breheimian and Soviet sailors.
Initially, the Socialist Party had some limited successes in national elections and even supported the Malgravean Green Party in their efforts to retain government, however, following the Great Exodus and the start of the Malgravean Civil War the party suffered a collapse in support and lost national representation.
In the aftermath of the losses endured by Operation Shield, Operation Hammer and Operation Bastion the Territorial Defence Force announced the start of a strike effort, a campaign which would eventually see the entire country grind to a halt as the trade union confederation organised a general strike. In the aftermath of these efforts, and militia-led efforts during the Battle of Pakosc the Socialist Party started to gain popularity once more and entered the Chamber of Representatives and the Chamber of Supervisors following the 1965 Malgravean General Election albeit in a small capacity.
With the completion of the Epping-Rensk Agreement, it was predicted that the Socialist Party would sweep regions that used to belong to the Socialist Republic, however, such predictions were never manifested into reality. Following on from reforms implemented by Prime Minister Nadzieja Brzezicki it was revealed that this was the result of a campaign by the Special Investigative Service, as the increased popularity of the party was deemed a threat.
In the 2019 Malgravean General Election the Socialist Party witnessed a large surge of support across the former territories of the Socialist Republic and unseated many politicians from the Conservative Action Party and Technology Party.
Political Platform
Economic Affairs
Economically, the Socialist Party support elements of the current status quo, however, current Socialist thought believes that the state has too much control over economic affairs and has proposed a multi-year plan to transform typically state-run companies such as MalMart and MalMart into workers-managed enterprises run from associated trade unions.
Beyond this, the Socialist Party support efforts to increase industrialization efforts in the Research Colony and a portion of their three-year plans concentrate on developing the Malgravean economy into a more export-focused model.
Social Issues
Socially, the Socialist Party supports the protections outlined by the 1954 Equality Act, although, some factions in the party have claimed that the legislation doesn't go far enough in tackling the class divides that often trouble many societies in Mystria.
The Socialists have also historically campaigned against conscription, a method of recruitment that they say harms working-class communities and fails to serve the defensive needs of the Malgravean people. Socialists have also campaigned for the abolition of the Paragon Monarchy and the establishment of a Republic led by a Paragon Premier with the socialists claiming that the paragon monarchy represents a vestige of class rule in Malgrave.
Foreign Policy
On foreign policy issues, the Socialists called for the expansion of ties between Malgrave and Breheim alongside increased efforts to help promote the return of socialism to the country. It has also called for Malgrave to send a humanitarian mission to New Freedomstan to save the land from reactionist ruin and imperialism.
Some within the Socialist Party have also called for a future Malgravean state to be more proactive in promoting anti-capitalist thought overseas, however, this is a tightly contested issue within the party.
