Heptarchy is a form of church organisation put into place by the law reforms undertaken by the Emperors Ioannes II (569-587) and his son Ioannes III (587-602). This saw a large-scale re-organisation of the Aroman State Church, whereby seven of the major episcopal sees were placed in charge of all of the others. These heads were refered to as Patriarchs. The Patriarch Sees were as follows: Arome, Dymafos, En Gannin, Europatorion, Slatina, Tulcea and Tzius.
