The Wars of the Successors, also known as the Liễu Dynastic Wars, was a series of civil wars instigated by the brothers, sisters, sons and daughters of the Liễu emperor Liễu Thủ Tông. Due to the weak and incompetent rule of the emperor and the increasing outcry from the citizenry, many of these family members rebelled against his rule and one another for their proclamations of successions, and eventually, legitimacy.
