Midland (Lainerovan étendard: Phénoulagatahi, lit. "flat land"), officially Midland Region, is a region of South Neviersia. It shares land borders with Northern Lainerova to the north, the country of Neviersia (by a border less than 10 kilometres), East Coast to the southeast, The Durbanites to the south, and Perth Country and the Upper Norlands to the west. Midland is the second largest region in South Neviersia by land area and the least densely populated. Echireagh is the capital of Midland Region. Midland is characterised by the extensive, flat and arid Echireagh Plains, spanning from the north of The Durbanites to southern County Midland.

History

Geography

Climate

Midland predominantly has a humid subtropical climate (Cfa in the Köppen climate classification) with hot and humid summers and mild winters, typical of southern South Neviersia. Further north towards Northern Lainerova, the climate transitions to a Monsoon influenced humid subtropical climate (Cwa).

Governance

The Government of Midland is the regional authority for Midland Region, based in Echireagh, Country Midland.

Economy

Rothlone, Echireagh and Mount Talamer are the region's economic centres, particularly the latter, due to its proximity to The Durbanites and Greater Darwin, which both have significant population centres.

The M2 runs through Midland Region from Mount Talamer to northern County Midland, near the Northern Lainerovan town of Tipley, connecting the northern regions to Darwinschtad.

Demography

An estimated 3,043,000 inhabitants reside in Midland Region in 2024. Rothlone, County Maclow, is the largest settlement and the region's only official city with 189,000 residents. The second largest settlement is Echireagh which, despite exceeding the population requirement of 100,000, has not legally been declared a city. The largest urban conurbation in Midland Region is the Greater Mount Talamer area in County Talamer, centred around the town of Mount Talamer together with numerous satellite towns.

At the 2024 census, the ethnicities of Midland Region were as follows (ethnicities add to more than 100% as citizens could choose more than one ethnic group):
