The Empire of Thrashia maintains diplomatic relations with numerous other star nations throughout the known universe. This is a record for what type of diplomatic ties exist and between whom. Detailed are also the rights and privileges associated with each diplomatic status.
The Basics of Imperial Diplomacy
The Empire of Thrashia maintains certain diplomatic norms which may or may not be imitated or maintained by other star nations. The Empire believes that properly credentialed representatives from foreign star nations are to be given certain protections that are enumerated below:
Articles of Imperial Diplomatic Law
[1] All governmental representatives from foreign star nations must be properly credentialed and vetted by those governments sending them.
[2] A properly credentialed representative, ambassador, nuncio, minister, chargé d'affaires, legate, envoy, or otherwise stated rank of diplomat that is the leading head of a star nation's diplomatic team within the Empire of Thrashia, will be granted diplomatic immunity.
[3] The Empire of Thrashia, at any time and for any reason, can declare a particular member of the diplomatic staff to be persona non grata. The sending state must recall this person within a reasonable period of time, or otherwise this person may lose their diplomatic immunity. If a being that has been declared to be persona non grata remains within the Empire past the time in which they were expected to leave may be arrested by Imperial authorities and brought to trial under Imperial Law.
[4] The premises of a diplomatic mission, such as an embassy, are inviolable and must not be entered by the Empire except by permission of the head of the mission. Furthermore, the Empire must protect the mission from intrusion or damage. The Empire will never search the premises, nor seize its documents or property. This also extends to the private residence of the diplomats from said diplomatic mission.
[5] Establishes that the archives and documents of a diplomatic mission are inviolable. The Empire shall not seize or open such documents. In the event that a personage declared persona non grata is taken into custody with such documents on their person, these documents shall be returned to the embassy or premises of the mission to which they belong.
[6] The Empire will permit and protect free communication between the diplomats of the mission and their home star nation. A diplomatic courier will never be arrested or detained, unless they are persona non grata.
[7] Diplomats must not be liable to any form of arrest or detention. They are immune from civil or criminal prosecution, though the sending star nation may waive this right.
[8] Diplomats are not liable to pay Imperial taxes on goods and services.
[9] The family members of diplomats that are living in the Empire enjoy most of the same protections as the diplomats themselves. However, in the case of a Class B or higher Infraction being committed then such a family member may be taken into custody and charged under Imperial Law.
