The Ossorian Royal Guard is the unit charged with the military defense of the capital. While being an independent service arm, it is managed and administered by the Ministry of Military Affairs alongside the Royal Army, but directly answers to the Monarchy. The Royal Guard is the oldest single unit of the Ossorian military in continuous service having been brought into national service in 1483, with its roots dating back to the founding of the High Kingdom under High King Cerball Cloíteoir in 825 CE.

- By law, at least three members of the Bloodsworn must accompany the Monarch at all times when in the presence of non-family members.
