The Holy Aegenic Army is the main ground force of the Holy Empire. The organisation was first established in 1610 after the collapse of the Terathic Order.. It is among the largest militaries in Pardes due to the large pool of manpower in Aegion. The military is under direct command of the Emperor of Aegion and the Lord High General.
History
The turbulent military history of the pre-unification Aegenic Empire resulted in the existence of many smaller armed forces that were all centralized under the Holy Ordainment of 1610 by Aristophanes III. The Ordainment founded what many historians consider to be the current Holy Aegenic Army. The various crusader orders and noble led armies were arrayed in seven districts, each based around one of the Seven Great Fortresses and placed under command of seven appointed High Generals. It was under this system that successive emperors conquered the four great kingdoms of the north by 1832. This eventually expanded the number of districts to twelve.
Military reforms were relegated to strictly tactical, rather than strategic.

Organization and Structure
The Holy Army comprises ten corps sized army groups which are divided among seven military districts, or themes. Each theme is overseen by a High General. Each of these officers are appointed by the Lord High General and the Chief of Staff and have full command over their themes. These officers are locally known as the Seven Great Generals. These generals are responsible for serving on the Council of Generals, which oversees all military operations in the nation.
