The Battle of Ishikuta was a military confrontation in and around the city of Ishikuta in Lyoa. The battle began as Revolutionary United Forces rebels entered the city with the intentions of capturing it to begin an offensive against the Democratic Army of Lyoa. Clashes in the city lasted for over three weeks before RUF forces evacuated after suffering heavy territorial losses in the city. The battle was significant in stopping any RUF offensives in the southeast for most of 2001.
