Illota, officially the Kingdom of Illota (Valentian: Rednu Di Illota) is a small island nation in the continent of Aurora. To the west of Illota, you find find Ichoria and to the west, Kathia. About 280,000 people live on the island of Illota, the majority of which being Valentian. Illota has existed for 1,968 years but has ancinet history dating back to the year 1000 BCE. The first settlers of Illota were from the modern day country of Kathia. These settlers formed various tribes, until they were all subsequently conquered by the Elyrian Empire. After the collapse of the Elyrian Empire caused by the Calamity of Elyria, the Duchy of Illota was created, marking the begining of the history of Illota.

The Duchy of Illota was founded in 57 AD. The duchy was majority Kathic at the time and controlled all of the modern day territory of Illota. In around 200 AD, the Duchy of Illota started to conquer small duchies on the Kathic coast. These duchies and new citizens brought more Kathians to the island of Illota. This made Illota look very valuable to the newly expanding Kathic Kingdom. In the 1600s Illota became a prison island with a majority of prisoners being Valentians that were wrongly accused of crime. By 1750, over 40% of the Illotan population identified as Valentian. With the Kathic Revolution in the 1780s and 1790s the Illotans revolted against the imperial Kathic Government. This lead to Illotan independence in 1792 and the formation of the Kingdom of Illota. This lead to emigration of the now Kathic minority from the island, leading to Valentian being declared the official language of Illota in 1867.

Today, Illota is a very small and developed nation with a considerably high population density. The nation has a gross domestic product of about 25 billion dollars. Illota scores considerably high on the Human Development Index. Illota is a minor member of the Auroran Community with the national currency being the Auroran Orys.
