The National Democratic Party (Vierz: Nationaldemokratische Partei, NDP) is a right-wing, national conservative political party in Vierzland. The party has been led by Kaspar Vahl since 2012, and is currently the largest party in the country, holding a plurality of seats in the Federal Assembly as well as numerous state legislatures.
The NDP was founded in 2000 by an exodus of members from the United Republicans during the Higmon Affair scandal. The NPD first competed in the 2000 elections, winning 145 seats and becoming the country's second-largest party. In the 2005, 2007, and 2010 elections the NPD remained second to the Democratic Labour Party. In 2012, the NPD secured 392 seats, gaining an outright majority and making its chairman, Kaspar Vahl, chancellor. In the 2017 elections the NPD lost 60 seats, losing its majority in the Federal Assembly and leading it to form a coalition government with the Centre Party.
