The Hellonian crown (sign: kr; code: HLK) has been the currency of the Hellonian Realm since 1808. While officially still subdivided into 100 guilders, the coins are no longer made. Goods can still be priced in guilders, but will be rounded up to the nearest crown when paying with cash. It is one of the largest currencies on Ullar, used throughout the entire Hellonian Realm.
It was tied with the various other currencies used by the Vismar region in the Vismar Monetary Union. All currencies were made to be the same value with the introduction of a unit of equal worth in all currencies. Slowly the values moved to each other until they were tied to each other officially in 1890. The abolished of the First Vismar Union didn't lead to the end of the monetary union, which was only officially abolished in 1940. When the Second Vismar Union was established two years later, the decision was made to not reestablish the monetary union. From 1940 the individual currencies were allowed to grow apart.
History
The introduction of the Crown, which replaced the Trio, was a result of the mistreatment of the global currency. This lead to the Trio losing its value over time, giving way to uncertainty in many countries. All countries in the Vismar; Hellona, the USGS and Nambalonia decided to reestablish their own currencies in 1808. In 1890, these countries also agreed to the Vismar Monetary Union. In 1940 the countries agreed to dissolve the monetary union.
