Emma (Emma Madeline Grace; born 3 November 1995) was the Queen of Icadias from 2014 to 2018. She ascended to the throne upon the death of Oscar V and later voluntarily abdicated to pursue a career in the United Nations.
Early Life
Emma was born on the 3rd of November 1995 as the 3rd child of King Oscar V and Queen Hazel. Upon her birth, she was named Emma Madeline Grace, with her last name being similar to that of her elder sister's. As dictated by their parents, Emma was admitted into the same kindergarten alongside her siblings as to foster a tight relationship alongside the others. Having lived alongside her younger sister Catherine with their English-Swedish cousin Nathalie, she showed a surprising amount of interest in reading, as she would often said to had spent around one to two hours of daily reading, mostly on fictional storybooks, which granted her the nickname "Booky Blonde" by her cousin.
Crown Princess
Unlike her sister Catherine, Emma continued to reside in the UK with her cousin, choosing the prestigious Oxford University. As expected, her genuine interest in reading led her to become an overall hard-working and ambitious person, which earned her much praise from her lecturers. Regardless, she was said to had been a fairly social person, evidenced by her tendency to go on international travels with a select group of friends during long breaks.
Though she was not a Crown Princess by legal standards, she surprisingly showed an impressive amount of work and dedication which outclassed those of her elder sister Catherine but her studies were later put to a test when her father, the king fell sick to a dangerous illness, which almost prompted her to return back to Stockholm, ditching her studies. However, upon the advice of her mother, she decided to stick to her studies and her father's then worsening condition proved nothing to deter the hardworking princess of her work.
After graduating from Oxford with a MOS degree, she immediately returned to Icadias and spent a few weeks alongside their dying father. On the 20th of May, just two days before her father's demise, Emma was unexpectedly proclaimed Crown Princess and successor to her father, sidelining her much older sister Catherine who had then naturally been the heir apparent from birth
Queen of Icadias
After becoming the new monarch on the 22nd of May, 2014, she surprisingly took cautious steps in reversing or undoing her father's past "conservative" minded plans and reforms, intending to liberalize the royal institution instead. As a result, she introduced several wide-reaching liberal reforms which though it met considerable criticism, was praised by the rest, who began to view her as an "extremely liberal-minded" monarch.
Though she co-runs the state with the Lord of the Elite Council, Emma delegated much of the state's foreign affairs to her equally-minded sister Catherine, who became the first royal to be sworn in as a government member. Ultimately, her 4 year long reign was known much for her dedication to further reform and to transform the existing Swedish education system and also her personal interest in social welfare, made notable by her "10 Year Plan" program, which aimed to facilitate a large number of child protection buildings built on formerly abandoned sites, alongside crueler and heavier punishments on those who abandoned their children without any proper care.
Abdication
Despite having shown considerable praise and success as monarch, over the years, Emma began to show deep interest in international affairs, which was exemplified by Catherine. Ultimately, soon after informing those relevant of her planned abdication, she contested for the spot of the UN Secretary General, to which she failed to earn her initial objective but instead settled for the position of Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations.
Upon assuming official duty on the 15th of June 2018, she made her abdication official and her presumed successor Catherine was proclaimed "Queen of Icadias" on the next day.
Currently, though she has declared that she has no intent on ever returning to the throne, Emma has also continued to work with much interest for the Icadias government itself, becoming a patron of several local organizations aligned with her goals and motives.
Personal Life
Since the beginning of her career in the United Nations, Emma has since moved to the United States in order to be closer to the UN headquarters in New York. However, she still maintains close correspondence with her family back home and is partially involved in government affairs as an unofficial advisor.
Despite the marital status of two of her three siblings, Emma has since retained that at the time being, she is not looking forward rowards having marriage as a responsibility.
