The People's Home Defense Army was the second major resistance movement within the Englean Empire during the Second Great War. This movement comprised of sympathetic Englean officers, soldiers, and civilians trapped within territories occupied by the Frasian Federation and the Rezuan Empire. Unlike the Heilmeier Freikorps (HF), the PHDA was a socialist and communist partisan force, working to expel Rezuan forces from Englean territories and then overthrow the Englean monarchy in order to create a communist state. The organisation was created after the surrender of multiple northeastern Englean states to the invading armies, which were successful in overruning both the Englean Imperial Army and the Landwehr forces in the early years of the war. Unlike the Heilmeier Freikorps, the PHDA was an illegal organisation in the eyes of the Englean imperial government and was registered as a hostile force equal or worse than the Rezuans. Because of this, both the Englean Imperial Army and the Heilmeier Freikorps would be noted to have engaged in multiple skirmishes with the PHDA. Following the expulsion of Rezuan forces out of the Empire, the elimination of the PHDA was tasked to the HF within the homeland and areas captured by the advancing army. Despite their ultimate expulsion from the empire, the PHDA was successful in holding certain territories within Central Ventismar and eventually struck a deal with Librira that would find the PHDA transferring their unrecognised Englean People's Republic to islands captured from Rezua. The PHDA then evolved into the National People's Armed Forces in 1947.
