The Luftstreitkräfte, officially the Fliegertruppen des engleanisches Kaiserreiches, also referred to as the Englean Imperial Air Force, is the branch of the Englean Gesamte Kaiserliche Streitkräfte des engleanisches Kaiserreiches tasked with the worldwide aerial activities of the Englean Kaiserreich. The purpose of the Luftstreitkräfte is to serve as the secondary force-projection of the Englean Kaiserreich, and also assist in the defence of Englean and allied interests around the globe. The Luftstreitkräfte was created during the First Great War in response to the usage of aircraft in combat in the Ventismarian Front. The branch was originally created within the Kaiserliche Heer, hence the usage of the term "Fliegertruppen" within the official designation. After the war, the Luftstreitkräfte was separated from the Kaiserliche Heer and became the third major branch of the GKSeK. During the interwar period, the Luftstreitkräfte continued to develop unique aircraft designs and tactics. The Invasion of the Englean Kaiserreich by the Damsmarian Empire found the branch unprepared for such an operation and it originally saw mixed-results in battle. After the Englean forces pushed back the Damsmarian invasion, the Luftstreitkräfte was able to properly gain experience and proper funding from the Imperial government. Following the Englean victory in the Second Great War, the Luftstreitkräfte remained an integral part of the GKSeK as it became the primary branch charged with nuclear deterrence operations. In the 21st Century, the Luftstreitkräfte remains the most powerful air force in Eastern Corentia.
