The Royal Malgravean Times is a daily newspaper in the United Kingdom of Malgrave. It is one of two Malgravean newspapers operating within the country and currently under the control of the government. The newspaper enjoys a wide level of distribution across the world and is the current newspaper of choice for many foreign ambassadors serving inside Malgrave.

History

The Royal Malgravean Times was founded by the Malgravean government in 1911 in order to provide a clear and neutral source of information and in order to counter what some politicians saw as growing bias in corporate media. In the years following the foundation of the newspaper it continued to grow quickly becoming the third most popular newspaper in the country, an achievement considering the incredibly competitive newspaper industry of the time.

The Second World War however changed that with many once large companies being destroyed by war and lacking the resources to completely rebuild in a new region went out of business, being owned by the state the Royal Malgravean Times took advantage of state financing and quickly established itself as the only daily newspaper in the country acting to destroy private competitors which attempted to move into the newspapers daily market. Since then the Royal Malgravean Times has enjoyed it's status as the counties dominant newspaper far outselling it's nearest rival the Epping Post which has since focused it's business on the capital and the Country Today which has since changed into the Financial World Today.

Notable Articles

During the 1960 Malgravean National Election the Royal Malgravean Times ran several articles highlighting the temporary and protest None of the Above Party publicly supporting the party for the election victory whilst running several "hit" pieces on the lack lusture and lazy form of the established opposition parties and the current Government.

In 1973 journalists of the Royal Malgravean Times broke with the story that uncovered massive levels of corruption within every level of Government including the office of the Prime Minister, the scandal eventually led to the 1973 Malgravean Emergency General Election and is often heralded as the newspapers greatest piece of investigative journalism.

Controversy

Over the years the paper has been accused of crushing possible internal and foreign competitors by means of extreme propaganda campaigns and in some instances criminal activity, something which the paper has denied furiously over the years and has been defended on this by the Governments of the time.

Since the appointment of Rachel Berry to the position of Prime Minister some have also criticised the newspaper for being a simple mouth piece of the Government and some former workers have even claimed that to gain promotions in the corporation one must become a member of the Progressive Unity Party something which has been denied by both the Government and the Royal Malgravean Times.

Recently the Royal Malgravean Times was forced to apologise when during a particularly bad April Fools Prank the newspaper claimed it had received a sex tape of Rachel Berry and her current partner something which quickly spiralled out of control as the following prank reveal was not shown. Later the Malgravean Agricultural Coalition accepting the news as genuine jumped onto the announcement calling for a national press conference in which they demanded for an open revolution against the homosexual activity of the cityfolk and the criminalisation of homosexual activity across the country, something which provoked much laugher especially when news of the prank was finally revealed half-way through the conference.
