Tavonga Ngonidzashe (born 17 September, 1992) is the eldest son of the reigning monarch of Rwizikuru, Munashe Ngonidzashe. He became Crown Prince on 21 September, 2019, when his father became Mambo following his grandfather's abdication from the throne.
Early life
Tavonga Ngonidzashe was born to Munashe Ngonidzashe and Nyengeterai Ngonidzashe, as the eldest of six legitimate children on 17 September, 1992 in Guta raMambo. He was baptized into the High Estmerish Church as Barnabas Ngondizashe.
In 1995, he entered a kutamba boka program at the King Izibongo School, making him the first royal to enter a preschool program. Tavonga went on to enter Kugamuchira in 1997, and made his way through school at an average rate.
His teachers described him as being "average in all areas," and was expected to go to a Chikoro chepamusoro after his "mediocre results" in the eleven-plus in 2003. However, his grandfather was able to pull strings to allow Tavonga to attend the Shungudzemwoyo Ncube Grammar School in 2004, and finished his Yechitanhatu Fomu in 2011.
While he had mediocre results, his grandfather was able to persuade the University of Rwizikuru to allow him to attend classes: thus, in September 2011, he moved to Port Fitzhubert and began taking classes in political science.
In 2012, he met a Balisa commoner, Ditsheho Lekhotla at the University of Rwizikuru. In 2013, he made his first public appearance to give a commencement speech at the Charles Fitzhubert School.
In 2015, Tavonga Ngonidzashe graduated with a bachelor's degree in political science. That same year, he married Ditsheho Lekhotla.
Increasing role
In 2016, he was appointed by Kupakwashe Ngonidzashe to replace Munashe Ngonidzashe as treasurer, partially as Munashe was to take on more responsibilities from his grandfather. As treasurer, Tavonga Ngonidzashe, while still taking money from the treasury to enrich the royal family when asked to by Kupakwashe, was not as concerned of enriching himself, as he believed that the royal family was more than wealthy enough to not need to engage in the embezzlement anymore.
Over the next couple of years, Tavonga Ngonidzashe was given more duties by his father, mostly minor duties relating to the Crown Prince, as the Crown Prince was taking on more duties from the Mambo.
In 2018, he was appointed mukuru of the district of Gutaguru by Kupakwashe Ngonidzashe, but kept his role as royal treasurer, which was seen as unusual, as these positions were generally held by separate people.
Personal life
Tavonga Ngonidzashe married Ditsheho Ngonidzashe in 2015, and had two sons: Makomborero Ngonidzashe in 2016, and Munyaradzi Ngonidzashe in 2018, and a daughter: Mmathapelo Ngonidzashe, born in 2020.
He is fluent in weRwizi, Gaullican, and Molisa, and can comfortably hold a conversation in Senrian and Estmerish.
Like his father, he enjoys the finer things in life, and frequently travels across the world.
