Bösepenst [Bose-e-penst], or translated as 'Demon Ghost' in english (the word coming from the german words Bösewicht and Gespenst, meaning Demon and Ghost), are a class of supernatural monsters in TECT Mythology. They also go by the name Unmenfel [Un-men-fell], or 'Monster Devil' (the word coming from the german words Unmensch and Teufel, meaning 'Monster and Devil'); names vary however depending on the region visited in Royals, though people often shorten these names further to 'Böse' and 'Unmen'. Bösepenst are characterized mostly as mischievous and dangerous; however, Bösepenst usually vary eclectically from the malevolent to the mischievous, or occasionally even bringing good fortune to others. Often they posses animal like features or can appear mostly human, others appear as inanimate objects and no discernible shape; another type are 'Hölle', which are demons from Hell. Bösepenst are known for having spiritual and supernatural powers beyond human comprehension; these powers are often special to each Böse while other powers, such as shapeshifting, are common amongst all or most Bösepenst.

Dragons are a breed of Bösepenst.

Bösepenst, like other mythological tales, were used commonly by ancient Commoners to explain the world around them; similar to how Angels were created and how Gods were created to explain creation. Ancient writers, artists, and historians often made local legends into national phenomenons; such as depicting Bösepenst in art or in stories, or even blaming such creatures for devastating phenomenon. Bösepenst are therefore naturally common, more so then Angels, in mythological tales in TECT. It was even told that Maximus Forelis had Böse flocking to his side and fought in his military campaigns; the only human to ever become the leader of a Nachtparade. Bösepenst fame was said to become popular around 2,000BCE, but it is unclear when Böse actually became common knowledge or when individual stories first started; Bösepenst naturally started dieing out in belief around the Second Industrial Revolution, following advances in technology.

In modern history though, urban legends have given birth to new forms of Bösepenst; they are often called 'Die Neue Generation' or "The New Generation" in english. These new urban legends have been often equated to modern birthed Bösepenst legends.
