The AS.400E is Sieuxerrian a twin-engine Airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) designed to operate from carriers like the Richelieu-class and the Bearn-class carriers. It provides critical support for fighter aircraft in theater, and also acts as early warning protection for the fleet itself. It was based off the AS.400, which is a tri-service cargo aircraft.
Development
Variants
- AEW&C aircraft fitted with stronger engines and used off carriers. 33 produced.
- AS.400E II
- Improved radar and electronics package. Retrofitted to all AS.400Es. 33 converted.
- AS.400E III
- Improved engines, all new glass cockpit and R208 scanned array radar. Currently 22 converted, with an additional 2 awaiting conversion.
