Fyndbrytan (Foehammer, Englisc) is the ancestral weapon of House Teorell, forged in 1340 in Eoferwic. The head is the only original part of the weapon, forged of a northern folded steel alloy. The shaft and grip have been replaced several times throughout history.
History
Fyndbrytan was forged for Lord Aelfric Teorell of Nortymba, later to become King Aelfric I of Brytene. Aelfric carried Fyndbrytan at the Battle of Lowencraic.
The weapon was not raised in anger again, as the chosen weapon of Queen Leila I was a broadsword. It remained on display at Teorell Manor in Eoferwic until the election of Cenwulf Teorell, and it now resides in Castle Oakhall where it is used for ceremonial events.
Specifications
The weapon is 196cm long in total, despite the head being relatively small. The weapon weighs 4.8kg, due in part to the high density and weight of the axe blade.
The current handle is made of tempered pine, with two brown leather handgrips.
