Albrecht Manfred Neumann; 22 October 1889 – 12 August 1977) was a Besmenian statesman who was the 4th Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Besmenia from 1944 to 1956. Previously, Neumann was governor of the Besmenian state of East Lemberland from 1939 to 1944. Neumann was also party leader of the FBBP from 1945 to 1963. And he was from 1931 to 1935 mayor of his hometown Bartaz.

Early Life

Albrecht Neumann was born on October 22, 1889 in the small town of Bartaz as son of railway attendant Konrad Neumann (1851-1922) and housewife Elfriede Müller (1857-1933). His brother Frank was born in 1894, but he died 2 months after the birth. From 1901 to 1907 he attended the state high school in Bartaz. After graduating in 1907, he trained as a carpenter until he entered the war in 1912.

Neumann in the Besmenian Civil War

Between 1915 and 1917 Neumann fought on the side of the Royal Army in the Besmenian Civil War. In March 1917, he was hospitalized due to brief blindness as a result of an injury. In April 1917 Neumann left the military service. Neumann himself said that the civil War had massively increased his interest in politics.

Politic

In 1917 Neumann joined the liberal Besmenian Democratic Party, which at that time was the largest and only liberal organization in Besmenia. However, he left the party in 1927 due to the ever decreasing number of votes. In the same year he became a member of the Free Besmenian Citizen's Party.
