Lemithri is one of the eleven earldoms of Cadenza. Located in the west of the island of Cadenza, it is the country's fourth largest earldom, at 644.77 km2, and seventh most populous, with a population of 50,014. Its capital is the city of Lema.
The earldom is bisected by the river Karea, which flows west from Gadana Neramë, a crater lake on Lemithri's borders with Roakkon and Khadeg, and enters the sea below Lema. West of the mouth of the Karea is the island of Ri'ezhen, which has been uninhabited since 1942 when Hurricane Tarmüz swept the island. Geographically, Lemithri is characterised by a broad coastal plain which begins to rise gently towards the east. Lemithri's border with Khadeg is formed by the ridge between Vekh Lamanë, the highest point in the earldom, and the southern spur of Vekh Neramë.
The gentle Lemithran plain is largely given over to the cultivation of sugarcane and cereals, with the effect that it is the third least densely populated territory in the state. Lema is the only major town in the earldom, with the exception of southern Siyaltani on the border with Roakkon. Lemithri was also historically notable as the centre of Cadenzan horse-breeding. Lemsien Racecourse remains the best-known race course in Cadenza.
Lemithri is one of the oldest Cadenzan earldoms, independent from the early eighth century. Its sparse habitation meant it was never powerful, although it was successful in uniting with its immediate neighbours of Lemsien and Pernigadana around 900 AD. In 1795 it was recognised as one of five essential earldoms under the third Constitution of Cadenza.
