The Ardalian Military (Ardalian: Vojna Ardaska) is responsible for ensuring the soverignity and territorial integreity of the state and to defend against any possible aggression made by air, land, or sea. A total of 51,904 are on active duty. Conscription has been mandatory for all men between the ages of 18 and 26 since the establishment of the Republic in 1910. This service is for 2 years after which they are placed in the reserves until 40. While Ardalia does have a naval force (a coast guard), the Caropsyne Navy is relied upon to properly defend the nation's territorial waters. The President is the commander-in-chief of the military but the Government, chaired by the Premier, decides on their deployment and use in missions. The military also carries out non-traditional tasks such as humanitarian support during floods, fires, and other natural disasters.
