Cadriana
The Cadriana was the former third chamber of the Parliament. It was formed during the early days of Miria Seranoda's Government and would exist for eighteen and a half years before being dissolved by Almas Josc in 2019. The body was designed to act as a Pontanore-wide legislative and debate chamber representing all the Pontanore states. Each state was allocated a certain number of seats based on population and each seat was awarded based on the results of an election in each respective district. At its height, the Cadriana was the world's largest legislative chamber.
When the chamber was brought into existance, it was empowered with the responsibility for passing Pontanore-wide legislation and submitting petitions to the Pontiana on substantive policy changes. The Cadriana was also given the power to consider policies on social issues dealing with development and the allocation of funding across the Pontanore for commercial and public services. The chamber had the power to veto laws passed by the Pontiana that affected specific Pontanore minorities or ethnic groups. The Fostana, in its capacity as the Pontanore's highest court, had to concur for the veto to be upheld.
Although the chamber was well-intentioned, most political pundits and academics have concluded that the Cadriana was a failure. It was structurally weak as the Pontiana would continually assert its constitutional dominance and ignore any of its decisions or advice. The single most important legislation that came out of the body was long-desired reforms to the Fostana to change its membership from landed aristocrats and religious officials to notable individuals from the political, bureaucratic, and academic spheres of Pontanore society.
The most notable member of the Cadriana is its second and last Speaker, Ilmer Yutrias. He is currently the Premier of the Pontanore.
