The Myrmeke is a Syaran designation for the M20 Dobermann originally produced by Shalum. Difficulty in mass producing the M20 led the Imperial Shalumite Army to pursue manufacturing assistance from the Republic of Syara, which was in need of a new armored chassis in light of the Army of the Syaran Republics struggles with armored warfare during the Siduri War. The Republic in echange was able to produce the tank under the Myrmeke designation. The original design of the Myrmeke has served as the basis for all Syaran tanks since its adoption in 1950.
Relatively cheap to produce and easy to manufacture, the design was popular with the Army of the Syaran Republic and saw usage in the Granika Border War, though less liked by its crews who consideded it cramped and uncomfortable. More than 6,000 Myrmekes were built, making it the most produced Syaran tank in history, and more than a dozen recorded variants. The Myrmeke was used by both the Wardens and the Royalists during the Refusal War. Some Myrmekes continue to be used by the Realm Defense Forces of Syara.
