Anikatian National Broadcasting System (ANBS) (Anikatian: 안니카탸 국립 방송 공사, Annikatya Guglib Bangsong Gongsa) is the national public broadcaster of Anikatia. It was founded in 1928, and operates radio, television and online services, and is one of the the largest Anikatian television networks.
History
Structure
ANBS is a public corporation funded by the Anikatian government and license fees, but managed independently. As part of the Constitution, the president of ANBS is chosen by the President of Anikatia, after being recommended by its board of directors. Political parties in Anikatia also have the right to name members of the ANBS board of directors.
Because of this system, which gives politicians effective control over choosing the president of ANBS, as well as its board of directors, this system has been heavily criticised both within and outside of Anikatia for allowing the government to restrict the freedom of the press. ANBS' international output such as ANBS World, as well as specialised services such as ANBS Radio 3 for the disabled, receive public funding from the Anikatian government.
Channels
Terrestrial television
- ANBS-1 - ANBS' flagship channel, it broadcasts news and current affairs, education, sports and culture. It is solely funded by the license fee, airing commercial-free. It is available nationally on channel 1, broadcasting via digital terrestrial television. KBS-1 also airs public information films and minor entertainment programming, but the majority of which is on ANBS-2.
- ANBS-2 - ANBS' entertainment and drama channel, it is available on digital channel 2 via digital terrestrial television. ANBS-2 also airs public information films and less news and current affairs programming, but the majority of which is on ANBS-1.
- ANBS UHD - The Ultra High Definition channel. Airs music videos and re-runs of dramas. It is on national terrestrial digital channel 21.
ANBS-1 and ANBS-2 phased out analogue services on December 31, 2012 as part of the switchover to digital television.
Cable and satellite television
- ANBS Prime - A culture and drama channel.
- ANBS Drama - A drama channel.
- ANBS Sports - A sports channel.
- ANBS Bliss - A comedy and quiz show channel.
- ANBS Kids - A children's channel.
- ANBS WM - a channel aimed at a female audience.
- ANBS - Sketch Cable - Distribution paid cartoons online.
These six channels are carried by cable and satellite operators in Anikatia.
Radio
- ANBS Radio 1 - news, current affairs, drama, documentary and culture. Launched in 1928 and it became ANBS Radio 1 in 1951.
- ANBS Radio 2 - entertainment radio for the middle aged.
- ANBS Radio 3 - radio station for the disabled.
- ANBS 1FM - classical music and folkmusic.
- ANBS 2FM - popular music.
- ANBS World Radio - the Anikatian international radio service, funded directly by the Government.

ANBS World
ANBS World is the international television and radio service of ANBS. It officially launched on May 1, 2004. It is broadcast on a 24hr schedule with programs ranging from news, sports, television dramas, entertainment, and children's. ANBS World television is broadcast locally and around the world. As of July 2009, around 95% of its programs are broadcast with English subtitles, it is available in over 15 countries, and reportedly more than 30 million households around the world can access ANBS World. It has four overseas subsidiaries: ANBS Arthurista, ANBS Belfras, ANBS Rodarion, and ANBS Temuair. ANBS Temuair is independently operated by an ANBS subsidiary in Temuair, and most programs are provided with English subtitles. ANBS World television is a television channel that runs mostly programs commissioned for ANBS' 2 terrestrial networks: ANBS-1 and ANBS-2. ANBS World television is distributed over several international communication and broadcasting satellites.
