The M573 Maalik (Arabic: مالك) is a Riysian 157 mm self-propelled howitzer. It entered mass-production in 1998, and service with the Riysian Joint Ground Forces in 2001.
Description
The M573 is one of the most advanced self-propelled artillery available in the Riysian inventory. Many processes are fully automatic, such as re-filling the ammo stock, and of course an automatic loader. The M573 also uses a new electronic fire-control system, with an optical/thermal imaging sight, GPS and phased array radar aids with navigation and targeting, and an automatic laying system. It is network and plug-and-fight capable, has automatic support for five MRSI rounds, is CRBN protected, and shielded against electromagnetic pulses.
Its main armament is the Riysian 157mm 92M157 howitzer. It fires the entire line of Riysian 157 mm amunition, with a sustained rate of fire of 10-13 rounds per minute and a burst-fire mode that fire three shells in eight seconds. It has a maximum range of 34 kilometers with its base HE-EFRB shell, which can go up to 63 kilometers with rocket-assisted projectiles.
