The Verdean government has had consistently strong suffrage with most minorities being granted the right to vote since the creation of the First Verdean Republic in DI 1, though certain other groups (religious and national origin) were not granted suffrage until later, with non-Regio practioners being granted until after the conclusion of the Carlosian War, and the restoration of a democratic government to the Verdean Empire, and foreign born persons being granted suffrage in the Second Republic's Constitution. Criminals were not granted suffrage until the Orteguista government allowed it for those who have completed their terms (or in the case of shirkers those who complete their National Service Obligations).
