The Constitution of the Zitassan Federal Republic (Zitassan: Costituzione della Repubblica Federale Zitassan) was enacted by the Consiglio on 22 January 1825, with 17 votes in favor and 3 against, plus the full approval of The Quadrumvirate. It went into effect on 1 March 1825. The text has since been amended 23 times, with some of the most notable being universal suffrage in 1899, and in 1938, when the Popular Assembly was created, semi direct democracy was introduced, and it was entrenched that a dictatorship was not allowed.
