"O Rubrum" is the national anthem of Rubrum. Created by the Robert Weir, the song was first performed in 1880, and was sung in Rubrum as a patriotic song. Despite it, it did not replace God Save the King. It was deemed as the unofficial national anthem in 1939 until 1980, when the Dominion Act of 1980 finalized it as Rubrum's official national anthem.

History

Lyrics

The lyrics of the anthem were officially adopted in 1980:

Official English
O Rubrum!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all of us command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Rubrum, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Rubrum, we stand on guard for thee.
O Rubrum, we stand on guard for thee.
Bilingual Version
O Rubrum!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all of us command.
Car ton bras sait porter l'épée,
Il sait porter la croix!
Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brillants exploits.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Rubrum, we stand on guard for thee.
O Rubrum, we stand on guard for thee.
