Princess Sofía, Duchess of Gancia (née Princess Sophie Charlotte of Solms-Assenheim; born 24 January 1957) is a German-Spanish noblewoman, who is the widow of Prince Enrique, Duke of Gancia, claimant-in-exile to the throne of Escandria.
Early life
Princess Sophie Charlotte of Solms-Assenheim was born in 1957 to Rudolf, Prince of Solms-Assenheim (1924-1998), and Princess Helena of Baden (1930-2019). She has three siblings, Princess Margaretha (1959-2017), Princess Theodora (1961- ) and Christoph, Prince of Solms-Assenheim (1963- ).
Marriage and children
On 23 August 1979, Princess Sophie Charlotte married Prince Enrique Astugón, eldest son of Prince Carlos, Duke of Gancia. They were married for 39 years until Prince Enrique's death in 2019. They had three children together:
- Prince Nicolás, Duke of Gancia (Nicolás Juan Carlos Enrique Pablo Alejandro; born 16 September 1980), married to Princess Katharina of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt, had issue.
- Prince Pedro Astugón de Palma (Pedro Luis Claudio José; born 4 December 1982), married to Cristina Flores Montero, had issue.
- Prince Carlos Astugón de Palma (Carlos Eduardo Felipe Andrés; born 22 September 1985), unmarried and no issue.
- Princess Carmen Astugón de Palma (Carmen Maria del Pilar Luisa Victoria; born 8 August 1987), married to David Martínez Villalba, had issue.
