The Notos is an armored personnel carrier first manufactured by the Republic of Syara in 1960. A wheeled transport designed to ferrying troops across the battlefield, the Notos was adopted by the Army of the Syaran Republic and saw extensive service during the Granika Border War, Hayren War, and the Refusal War. The design was upgraded and re-used by the Syaran Commonality Armed Forces following its establishment, and continues to serve to this day with the Syaran National Army. Although the platform's role has been overtaken somewhat by the more modern Xanthus multi-role AFV, the Notos is expected to serve for several more decades.
The Notos functions as a lightly armored and armed troop transport and can be found within virtually every major Syaran land formation. It has undergone several revisions and upgrades over its service life, improving engine performance, ballistic protection, armament. With more than 30,000 produced between 1960-2021, it is the most produced armored vehicle in the history of Syara. It's frequent usage and common appearance in every major conflict involving Syara since the Siduri War has made the Notos an icon of the Syaran military; former Syaran Field Marshal Nikodemos Cvetkov described the Notos as "the ubiquitous image of Syara's military, more so than any other weapon or platform."
