The StG M68, officially the Sturmgevär/Sturmgewehr Modell 1968, is an Acrean 5.56x45mm select-fire rifle designed by Kaalstad Våpenselskap AB for the Acrean Armed Forces. It was designed in the 1960s as an automatic carbine to supplement the StG M51 in Acrean service, using a lighter intermediate cartridge. Entering service in 1968, the M68 was adopted by the Royal Acrean Marine Corps. Competing against the Stuhr M65, which was a 5.56mm adaptation of the M51, the M68 was highly regarded for its handling and weight, being substantially lighter than most contemporary rifles. Its weight has been further reduced through modernised and improved variants.
